what’s the line between awareness and obligation?
where is the moment in skill differential where it becomes my responsibility to enlighten people to their own, typically, self-imposed suffering?
how do I decide who to help and who’s already made their own bed?
let’s say you see some engaging in maladaptive patterns, and you know how to remedy them, but your assistance has not been requested because there is no perceived issue? are you obligated to interfere under the rationale of “oh, well I should be trying to alleviate suffering in the world.”
to what degree and scale is the phrase “see something, say something” applicable?
and I guess the ultimate, underlying question behind all this is: how the hell do you know when to mind your business, or when to get involved in something that isn’t directly your problem, but you know is bad?
