what’s in a life?
what’s in a word?
what does it mean to communicate or is it all simply for the birds?
I saw a video about cheese today. I can’t share a link because it’s on my profile and my profile is private, yadda yadda, it’s not that important.
was is important, are these two statements:
>how often do you think something is communicated but not understood because the scale and flow of transmission doesn’t sync with the scale and flow of reception?
>the core message doesn’t change here. it’s always ‘cheese’ but the scale and flow changes and makes it imperceptible as the video continues what’s up with that? what’s going on there?
tl;dr — over the course of the video, all the guy says is “cheese”. it’s just the statement “cheese.” every time.
but the way it’s said changes. there are multiple clips added; there’s a slow effect. it all becomes auditory mush towards the end.
and so I started thinking, “hmm, I wonder what other instances there are about communication that cannot take place because the transmitter and recipient are operating at different scales and frequencies.
and I don’t mean this in a physical sense, but rather a psychological sense. how many people talk right past each other because they don’t use the correct signal or symbols? how much love is lost because we’re both looking at the same thing, but you call it a glorp and I call it a clurp?
the amount is incalculable.
